The Application of 2023 Basic Salary Subsidy Plan Begins January 2023

Beginning January 1, 2023, the basic monthly salary will increase to NTD 26,400 and the hourly pay will raise to NTD 176. The 2023 basic salary subsidy plan for certain industries was submitted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and approved by the Management Committee of the Employment Security Fund on November 23, 2022.   The subsidy plan goes into effect from January 2023.

The approved subsidy plan will benefit the employers of 180,000 full-time employees and more than 60,000 part-time employees. The amount of the subsidy will be based on the number of employees employed at the basic salary for up to 6 months. Employers will be subsidized by NTD 920 for each monthly employee and NTD 560 for each part-time employee. The total cost of the subsidy is estimated at NTD 1.34 billion and will be supplied by the Employment Security Fund.

In addition, the criteria of the 2023 subsidy plan are more flexible considering that the pandemic has deeply influenced the economy for nearly 3 years.  Also, the rate of decline has been decreased from 20% to 10%. Businesses will qualify for this program if their revenue in September and October 2022 decreased by more than 10% in comparison to those same months in 2019, 2020, or 2021.All such flexible measures aim to make more employers meet the criterion for the subsidy to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
