Formosa Transnational Legal Foundation is pleased to announce that it has established an International Exchange Grants ("Formosa Grants") program for foreign legal professionals (including lawyers, judges, and prosecutors). The Formosa Grants program supports short term in-residence fellowships at Formosa Transnational Attorneys at Law with a view toward encouraging international exchange. The Formosa Grants for the year 2026 is open for applications from July 1st, 2025, to October 31st, 2025. Formosa Transnational Legal International Exchange Grants:
2026 Application Directions
In order to encourage international legal professional (including lawyers, judges and prosecutors) to take up short term in-residence fellowships at Formosa Transnational Attorneys at Law (“Firm”) and to promote international exchange, Formosa Transnational Legal Foundation (“the Foundation”)will provide awardees with International Exchange Grants (“Grant” or “Grants”) pursuant to the Foundation's Regulations on Formosa Transnational Legal International Exchange Grants (“Regulations”). These Application Directions for the Formosa Transnational Legal International Exchange Grants in 2026 are adopted pursuant to Article 5 of the Regulations.
I. Application Eligibility and Qualification
i. The maximum number of Grant awardee in 2026 is three.
1. The applicant is a lawyer, judge, or prosecutor who has been disciplined in the jurisdiction in which he/she
practice.
2. The applicant has any record of criminal convictions.
II. Grants, Obligations, and Rules
i. A successful applicant (“Awardee”) is eligible for a short term, in-residence fellowship at the Firm. The period of the
fellowship is the period indicated in the application form. The Grants are as follows:
1. The Foundation will grant the Awardee NTD60,000 on the 15th day of each month of the Fellowship. If that day
falls on a holiday or weekend, then the payment will be made on the preceding business day. The maximum
period for the Grants is three months.
2. Other than the Grants themselves, no additional funds are available to subsidize airfare, accommodation and
travel in Taiwan, or insurance.
ii. The Awardee has the following duties during the Grant period:
1. Conduct legal research and exchanges in Taiwan with a professional legal approach on topics related to
democracy and the rule of law, the judicial system, social welfare, economic development, high-tech law,
or other legal issues recommended by the supervising lawyers of the Firm.
2. Submit an article (no less than 3,000 words) to be published in the Firm’s law review during the fellowship
(an honorarium will be paid by the Foundation in accordance with its regulations). The article should be in
English,Chinese or another language agreed upon by the supervising lawyers of the Firm. The topic of the
article should be related to law.
III. Application Procedure
i. Applications for the Grants in 2026 will be accepted from July 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025.
IV. Review Procedures and Result Notifications
i. A review panel selected by the Foundation will conduct the review and choose the applicants having the best fit with
current Firm needs.
