Foreign Professionals’ Dependents Can Enter Taiwan Without Health Exam Certification

  On December 1, 2006, The Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that the spouses and underage children of white-collar professionals who apply for visas to come to Taiwan to live with their family may enter the island without having to provide certification of health examination.  In order to qualify, the dependant(s) and the white-collar professional must be citizens of countries eligible for visa-free entry to Taiwan. 

  White-collar professionals covered by this liberalization include: foreign nationals and overseas Chinese who are in Taiwan for professional or technical work, that are executives of government-approved companies, or who are teachers in schools (excluding foreign-language teachers in supplementary schools); sports coaches or sportsmen; and religious, art, or entertainment workers.

  According to the information released by the Bureau of Consular Affairs in December 2006, citizens of 30 countries are eligible for visa-free entry into Taiwan.  They include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Holland, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
