Southern Taiwan Science Park to Offer Expanded Services
The Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) is planning to expand available services on its grounds to cover equipment servicing, and financial and legal services.
A park official indicated that a new, "all-encompassing" service center will be built to accommodate companies at the park and also to attract more international-level equipment manufacturers.
Chen Jun-wei, Director-General of the STSP Administration Office said that the STSP has seen a rapid increase in precision machinery businesses, which has contributed to the rapid development of the park thanks to investments from major technology companies such as Chi Mei Optoelectronics and Taiwan Semiconductor.
There are currently 56 precision machinery companies at the STSP, which also represent a significant change for local traditional industries as they receive better opportunities to upgrade and transform.
The STSP hosts a considerable number of manufacturing process equipment manufacturers engaged in cooperative ventures with local companies such as Applied Komatsu Technology of the Japan, which has contracted local company Marketech to assemble Electron Beam Tomography equipment. Park officials said the STSP hopes to attract more Japanese companies working in optoelectronics and the IC manufacturing process.
In addition, companies such as ULVAC and Daifuku are both actively seeking key components and material suppliers in Taiwan.
A park official also mentioned that STSP is also implementing foreign equipment company technology transfers and assisting foreign companies in bringing their technologies to Taiwan.
