Crack-Down on Major Tax Debtors: Introduction of Anti-Extravagance Provisions
Recently, news of the extravagant lifestyle of the ex-chairman of PEWC, who owes a fiscal debt of 300 million dollars to the government, caused much discussion in the community. The Department of Justice (MOJ) has decided to supplement “Anti-extravagance provisions” in the Administrative Execution Act and implement periodic tracing of major tax debtors owing more than 100 million dollars in fiscal debts in the deterrence of any disguised concealment of assets.
According to the statistics compiled by the Administrative Executors Office, MOJ, including legal and natural persons, there are 168 major tax debtors owing more than 100 million dollars in fiscal debts, in the total amount of more than 100 billion dollars. The total fiscal debts in the country amount to 400 billion dollars. The Administrative Executors Office points out that its branches will target and crack-down on the major tax debtors, who have major fiscal debts in arrears, who intentionally displace assets or who maliciously refuse to make payment, to actively investigate and identify the assets of the debtors which may be subject to execution and effectively make use of the compulsory measures provided by the law.
