AUO Chief Executive and Vice-Chairman Barred from Leaving the United States Pending Lawsuit and Investigation

The price fixing lawsuit and investigations launched by the United States Department of Justice against Taiwan’s leading liquid-crystal-display (LCD) panel maker AU Optronics Corp (AUO) continue. Judge Susan Illston of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California ordered the confiscation of the passports of Chen Lai-juh, Chief Executive Officer of AUO, and Chen Hsuan-bin, Vice-Chairman, following their voluntary visit to the United States to attend the pretrial hearing to explain their role in the case. They are currently barred from leaving the United States and the Northern District of California.

AUO stated that the operation of the company will not be affected and indicated that the company will continue to cooperate with the investigations in the United States.
