Real-Time Inquiry for Trial Progress
Taiwan’s Judicial Yuan has implemented and launched on its website a number of convenient inquiry systems and functions for the public. The services more commonly used by the public consist of the searches in relation to the adjudication of cases, including the “Trial Progress Inquiry”, “Trial Schedule Inquiry”, “Decision Announcement” and “Legal Information Search”.
The “Trial Progress Inquiry” functions allows parties to a case and the related parties in the litigation to access through computer, or smart phones or PDAs with internet access, to verify the actual trial status at each court so that the parties and their attorneys can arrange for timely arrival at the courts for hearings.
The “Trial Schedule Inquiry” enables the parties to the case and their attorneys to verify the hearing time scheduled by the court and the “Decision Announcement” enables the parties to the case or their attorneys, who cannot be present at the court for the announcement of the decision, to access the system on the day after the announcement of the decision to obtain the text of the decision. The Judicial Yuan reminds the public that this service only allows inquiry for decisions announced in the last two months. For other decisions beyond this timeframe, the electronic file of the decision uploaded by the courthouse may be accessed using the “Legal Information Search”. Other services and systems will be launched online in the course of 2011.
