Ministry of the Interior Proposed Amendments Regarding Land Expropriation
n order to secure the interests of the people whose lands are expropriated, the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) proposed amendments to several provisions in the regulations concerning the expropriation of land. In the future, the market price of expropriated lands will be evaluated in January and July of each year respectively; the Government will expropriate land according to the higher of the two market prices. The new regulations are expected to be implemented in January 2013.
The major amendments of the regulations concerning the expropriation of land lie in the price of land expropriated. In the past, the land would be expropriated based on the price announced by the Government, which is lower than the market price. The new policy takes a different approach by expropriating lands based on the market prices. It creates a fair standard that reflects more accurately the value of targeted land, and affords a better compensation to the interested people.
