Comprehensive and Compulsory Insurance for Workers Who Suffer from Occupational Accidents
Taiwan's Ministry of Labor has recently completed a draft of law for workers who suffer from occupational accidents. The draft of law is separated from the Labor Insurance Act. The draft contains many reforms to provide labors sufficient protection against damages caused by occupational accidents.
The main points of the proposed draft of occupational accidents insurance:
First, the occupational accidents insurance would be comprehensive and compulsory, such that all laborers should be insured. Second, the upper limit of a person's monthly insurance salary would be raised from NT$ 45,800 to NT$ 72,800, and the monthly insurance premium for labor insurance per person contributed by the employer is increased from NT$ 96 to NT$ 153. Third, the penalty would be an amount from NT$ 20,000 to NT$ 100,000 if the employer violates the obligations above.
