United States Will Refuse Visas to Religious Persecutors

As the US-China Trade War continues, the US Committee on International Religious Freedom recently issued a statement urging the Trump Administration to include human right problems, such as China religious persecution, in the agenda of US-China trade negotiations.  Additionally, many members of the US Congress also suggested that the Trump Administration put human rights issues at the core of such negotiations.

Recently, an official of the US Department of State has advised religious groups that the US will strictly review visa applications and will refuse visas, including immigrant visas and non-immigrant visas, to persons suspected of committing religious persecution.  Moreover, people who have been granted a visa, even permanent residents, may be denied entry or reentry if they are known to have committed religious persecution.
