Reclaim Lands in Processing Zone to Relieve Demand

According to a recent news release from the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the MOEA’s Export Processing Zone Administration (EPZA) has implemented two measures to cope with rising demands for entrance to various processing zones in Taiwan.

First, an additional deposit equal to one-year rental have been and will be charged to those enterprises that have been stationed in the processing zones for more than two years but have not started construction. Second, lands zoned for public facility use, which zoning is no longer suitable for the processing zones, will be re-zoned for industrial use.

The aforementioned measures have resulted in the reclamation of approximately 9 hectares of lands located in processing zones that may now be released for rent. In the next two years, reviews of the investment performance of rented lands and continual adjustment of outdated land zoning will be implemented by EPZA to further relieve demand.
