Bank Fees for Replacement Credit Cards Reduced
In response to the demands of various consumer protection organizations in Taiwan, the administration fees for credit cardholders will be significantly reduced. Currently, financial institutions charge approximately NT$1000 as an administrative fee to replace a lost credit card. This fee will be lowered to NT$ 200 as early as 2011. In addition, bank fees for purchases made abroad will be lowered from the current 2.05~2.2% of the purchase amount to approximately 1.5% of the purchase amount, which will be inclusive of the fees charged by the various credit card organizations (approximately 1%) and a maximum fee of 0.5% for domestic issuing banks.
