Security Qualification to be required with Government Procurement of Information and Communication Equipment
For national security purposes, Taiwan’s Executive Yuan is considering a new requirement that all tendering offerors must obtain a security qualification from the National Communication Commission (NCC) when the Government procures equipment used for or having information and communication purposes or capacities. The Executive Yuan has requested the NCC to draft appropriate regulations and hold a public hearing for local and foreign enterprises affected by such a requirement.
The NCC states that the related regulations will be uploaded to the website of the Bank of Taiwan, and emphasizes that this new requirement will not be mandatory before 2013, as the NCC will consider proposing a mandatory legislation after 2014.
