The Legislative Yuan approved the amendments of Fair Trade Act (“Act”) on 9 June 2015. A fund of antitrust (“Fund”) is added into the Act. The Fund may tempt employees of a company, who are easier to be aware of their employer’s illegal action such as Cartel (“Whistlers”), to report the company’s illegal action/s.

The capital sources of the Fund include government budget, 30 % of the administrative penalties from the cases violating the Act and interest income. The application of the funds shall be limited to rewards for reporting illegal Cartel, encouraging the cooperation between/among international competition law authorities and reimbursing litigation expenses.

However, the legislators also request Fair Trade Commission to work out supporting rules to protect Whistlers from being punished or laid-off by the company.
