TAIWAN TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL COURT FOR CORPORATE REORGANIZATIONS AND BANKRUPTCY

Taiwan’s Judicial Yuan has decided to establish a special court that will exclusively handle corporate reorganizations and bankruptcy cases. This important policy decision was prompted by many requests from foreign companies operating in Taiwan and it is hoped by both the foreign companies and the Judicial Yuan that the new court will be able to review corporate reorganization applications and bankruptcy cases in an expeditious manner. As it prepares to implement this policy, the Judicial Yuan will seek involvement from foreign companies in the form of opinions and suggestions as it drafts the measures needed to establish the new court.
